Momoko, Fall is a spectacular time of year to soak in the beauty of our country's public lands. Yet many of these magnificent treasures—along with the dedicated people who steward them—are under attack as the administration is pushing federal workers out the door and slashing agency budgets at the very moment public lands need them most. These aren't just budget cuts—they're part of a deliberate effort to dismantle public lands and dissolve professional oversight, so drilling, mining and logging interests can take hold. We need your help to fight for funding and for federal workers who take care of our shared public lands and waters. Will you rush a gift before midnight TONIGHT to protect our parks, forests and all public lands? Here's the current reality: - The White House has proposed $198 million in cuts to the Bureau of Land Management, reducing money for conserving, restoring and connecting wildlife habitat, wetlands and migration corridors.
- Trail maintenance crews and forest scientists at the U.S. Forest Service have been gutted, regardless of the impact on communities and wildlife.
- Nearly 1 in 4 National Park Service staff have been lost as the administration works to push federal workers out the door, leaving public lands severely understaffed and putting public safety at risk.
- Proposed funding for the Fish and Wildlife Service is at a 20-year low, with hundreds of staff already terminated by the administration earlier in the year, and some wildlife refuges left completely unstaffed.
Public lands are being hollowed out. But together, we can fight back and hold our elected leaders accountable. That's why we have a goal of 100 donors by midnight TONIGHT. Momoko, give now to fight for our land management agency staff, conservation funding and essential environmental rules that are being gutted. Thank you for everything you do for public lands. —The Wilderness Society |
