The election has brought new leadership to Congress and new opportunities to protect America's public lands.
For Americans across the political spectrum who treasure the freedom to explore our national forests, parks and wilderness areas, this is a moment of hope. These places provide clean air and water, protect wildlife and offer memories to share with our children and grandchildren.
But before the new Congress can act, this outgoing Congress is considering actions that are nearly impossible to undo.
Congress is preparing to vote on a permitting bill that presents a false choice between building renewable energy and protecting public lands.
The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act could prevent future administrations from stopping or revising approved development projects, even when permits were approved unlawfully.
That could permanently entrench fossil fuel drilling, hardrock mining and industrial data centers on cherished landscapes like Greater Chaco, Bears Ears, the Boundary Waters and the Arctic Refuge.
We cannot let outgoing lawmakers make irreversible decisions about our public lands before the new Congress even takes office.
Future generations deserve the freedom to enjoy the same extraordinary places we inherited. And the new Congress deserves the opportunity to protect them.
Tell Congress to vote NO on the permitting bill.
Thank you for your advocacy and support.
Sincerely,
