The Bureau of Land Management is moving forward with an industry-requested rule that could clear the way for massive oil and gas projects in the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska, also known as the Western Arctic, without the project-by-project environmental review and public involvement currently required.
The Western Arctic sustains wildlife, clean water for communities and ways of life that have endured for generations. But this proposed rule would constrain BLM’s ability to reject or even meaningfully alter major development projects and would allow massive industrial-scale oil and gas projects to move forward with no environmental review or public scrutiny.
Thank you for your advocacy and support.
Sincerely,
