Delivering on orders from Trump's White House, multiple federal agencies have unveiled "interim final rules" that radically alter the environmental review process, stripping safeguards and watering down opportunities for public input in government decision-making.
This is not about simplifying process—this is about creating shortcuts for industrial corporations to ravage public lands at the expense of Tribes, communities and the environment!
At stake is implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), a milestone law that was designed to ensure public input and government transparency in decision-making. Through coordinated attacks across all three branches of government, the Trump administration and its allies are running existing NEPA regulations through the shredder.
With the drastic changes now being made, procedures that were designed to boost efficiency and trust have been largely diminished to mere guidance. If this course is not altered, the agencies that manage our public lands will be free to rubber stamp projects without input from the public and without considering potentially seismic impacts to communities and the environment.
Thank you for your advocacy and support.
Sincerely,
