Less than a year ago, the Bureau of Land Management finalized a plan in southwest Wyoming to protect critical habitat for wildlife like elk and pronghorn, plus cherished lands where people hike, hunt and camp. The plan, known as the Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP), was more than a decade in the making, built on careful public input.
Now, the Trump administration is trying to unwind these protections—opening the door for oil, gas and mining development in Wyoming's Northern Red Desert.
The Rock Springs RMP:
- Protects the lands where locals hike, hunt and camp;
- Safeguards critical habitat for mule deer, pronghorn and elk;
- Supports Wyoming's $1.5 billion outdoor recreation economy.
Those benefits shouldn't be sacrificed for the sake of more drilling; 92% of the state's BLM lands are already open for oil and gas leasing. If special landscapes like the Northern Red Desert are also leased, they will never be the same again.
Thank you for your advocacy and support.
Sincerely,
