Every dollar = 5X impact to protect Alaska’s wildlands

The Arctic can't wait. Please help.
ALL GIFTS MATCHED 5X FOR THE ARCTIC.

Hi Momoko,

I'm Matt Jackson, Alaska State Senior Manager at The Wilderness Society. I've never written to you before, but I've spent my life working to protect the lands and waters that make Alaska such an extraordinary place—lands and waters that are now facing some of the most serious threats I've ever seen.

Today I'm writing to ask for your help to defend them. The administration is moving forward with plans to open millions of acres of public lands in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, mining and other reckless development. Once that damage begins, it can't be undone.

We're fighting with everything we have to stop it—and right now your support can go 5X as far to help. Your generous tax-deductible gift before midnight on December 31 can be matched 5X by a dedicated donor, up to $1 million—funding our legal challenges, scientific research, policy work and grassroots organizing to keep cherished landscapes in Alaska and around the country free from destruction.

Your gift goes 5X further to protect critical wildlife habitats in Alaska.

It's not just the Arctic Refuge that's under immense threat. Across Alaska, other irreplaceable wildlands are also at risk, from Special Areas of the Western Arctic to the ancient old-growth trees of the Tongass National Forest, as protections are stripped away to make room for drilling, mining, logging and other development.

Just weeks ago, the administration greenlit a new ConocoPhillips seismic and exploration drilling program in the Western Arctic. We're now fighting in court to block this harmful expansion.

You see, Momoko, this fight isn't just about land—it's about life. The salmon that thrive in Alaska's rivers. The millions of migratory birds that flock from every continent in the world to nest here each summer. The caribou that migrate north in the spring for their calving season.

These vast ecosystems are the beating heart of the Arctic. They are vital not only to wildlife, but to the region's Indigenous communities whose cultures and ways of life are tied to these lands. And if we allow the administration and its allies in Congress to sacrifice them for the sake of corporate profits, we will lose their extraordinary gifts forever.

We still have time to stop the destruction—but only if we act now. Your support today will multiply:

to fight mandated oil and gas lease sales in the Arctic Refuge and the fast-tracking of new seismic and drilling exploration in the Western Arctic.
to defeat the destructive Ambler Road Project, a proposed, 211-mile industrial road that would cut across some of Alaska's wildest landscapes—including parts of Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve.
to stop the dismantling of the Roadless Rule, which for decades has protected 58 million acres of national forests, including the Tongass, from logging and roadbuilding.

Thank you for standing with us—for the caribou, the salmon, the polar bears, and most importantly, the communities who have lived in relationship with these lands since time immemorial.

With gratitude,
