Dear Momoko,
With quick paws, sea otters Lincoln, Juno and Uni Sushi dig through ice to uncover their food. Shrimp disappears in a bite. Clams are smashed open against rocks. Every meal fuels their bodies and challenges their minds.
And yes, they really do eat six times a day.
Sea otters may rest quietly at times, floating on the surface. But when it’s time to eat, they get to work. Because without blubber, they must eat throughout the day to stay warm.
With metabolisms that are two to three times the rate of other mammals their size, they need to eat about 25% of their weight in seafood daily. Feeding them costs about $960 each week.
Today I’m asking if you will support their care with a gift to the Oregon Zoo Foundation.
Your support helps provide the food and enrichment they need every day.
Please make your gift today.
For the animals,
