From day one, this administration has positioned drilling and mining as the preferred uses of America’s public lands, to the benefit of a select few corporate interests. Now the Interior Department is trying to cut profit royalties that oil corporations must return to taxpayers—padding executive pockets while the public gets pennies.
This is far from the first handout this administration and its allies have given the fossil fuel industry. Last year, the so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" gave away control of more than 200 million acres of BLM-administered lands to big oil, while making it both cheaper and easier to drill through giveaways that will have enormous ramifications for the public lands we know and love. These efforts were pressed despite the fact that over 80% of Western public lands are already open to drilling.
None of these efforts are going to help taxpayers who are already getting gouged at the pump by greedy corporations. Instead, we will lose billions, and our public lands will be irreversibly harmed, preventing us from conserving them for future generations.
Thank you for your advocacy and support.
Sincerely,
