Dear Momoko,

Every time Insight Panel members like you share feedback, it helps sharpen how we show up to protect America's wildlands.

This month, we're asking a few quick questions about how connected you feel to The Wilderness Society and whether you would recommend engaging with our work to others. We're also inviting you to share a favorite nature book or film and we'll include a curated list of Insight Panel recommendations in next month's report back.

Your answers will help us build a stronger movement to protect the lands and waters we all care about. Thank you in advance!

For those new to the Insight Panel, and as a helpful refresher for longtime panelists, here's a quick primer:

Each month, we invite committed supporters like you to share your perspectives on key questions we're navigating as an organization. Your responses are reviewed across teams—from leadership to communications to donor engagement—and help ensure our work stays grounded in what matters most to supporters like you.

WHAT YOU SHARED LAST MONTH

Last month, you helped us understand how you see The Wilderness Society—what role you think we play and what makes our work distinctive among conservation organizations.

When we asked about our core strengths, three themes rose clearly to the top. The most frequently selected strength was defending public lands from drilling, mining and development. Close behind was our expertise in federal land management law and policy to secure lasting protections for public lands, with protecting large, connected landscapes that sustain wildlife and communities coming in third.

In the open-ended responses, many of you described The Wilderness Society as an organization that stands out for its focus on protecting wilderness and public lands, often pointing to the importance of safeguarding undeveloped places for future generations.

One panelist summed it up this way: "I have backpacked and canoed in wilderness areas my entire life… I support the Wilderness Society because of your tireless advocacy for wilderness protection."

Another said, "The Wilderness Society is the last best hope for keeping truly wild areas wild. That's why I support it."

As always, we read every Insight Panel response. Your feedback is already helping us think more clearly about how we explain our role in protecting America's wild places and where we can communicate our work more effectively.

If you haven't yet, please take this month's quick survey.

Thank you for being part of the Insight Panel. The time and thought you share with us shapes how we protect America's lands and waters. We're so grateful.

With appreciation,
