Partner Spotlight: Fortis Construction
Beary cool changes at the zoo.

On your next visit to the zoo, you may notice construction near the main entrance and the polar bear habitat. Zoo partner Fortis Construction is building 18,000 square feet of covered, heated space for guests at these locations. These year-round community spaces will feature thoughtfully designed structures with upgraded lighting, radiant heat and full AV capabilities.
These projects reflect a shared commitment to sustainability and community impact, incorporating workforce diversity goals, targeting 80% diversion of construction waste from landfills and using locally sourced materials, including lumber from Tribal partners.
We can’t wait to share the finished spaces with you!

A milestone flight.
First California condor in Oregon since 1904.
A Northern California Condor (condor B9) recently completed a monumental journey from Northern California to an area near Medford, becoming the first to fly free in Oregon since 1904.
“It’s been a dream for many Oregonians to see a California condor soar over our state again, and B9’s journey has made that dream real,” said Oregon Zoo director Heidi Rahn. “Historic moments like this show the power of Tribal leadership in wildlife recovery. We’re deeply honored to partner with the Yurok Tribe to help bring this iconic species back to its ancestral range and to support a future for condors in the Pacific Northwest.”
