Insight Panel: Last chance to weigh in

What makes us different?

Hi Momoko,

Thanks for being part of The Wilderness Society's Insight Panel. This month, your perspective will help us better understand our role and how we can show up even stronger for the wild places we all care about.

It only takes a few minutes, and your input helps guide our strategy, messaging and the work ahead. Please take this month's quick survey.

With appreciation,

Dear Momoko,

By answering a few quick Insight Panel questions, you're volunteering your time in a simple but powerful way to help strengthen our work protecting America's wild places.

This month, we're asking a few short questions about how you see The Wilderness Society—the role we play, what you think we do best and how we compare to other conservation organizations.

Your perspective will help us communicate more clearly, make smarter strategic choices and build the strongest possible movement to protect the natural places we all care about.

Take this short survey

For those new to the Insight Panel, and as a helpful refresher for longtime panelists, here's a quick primer:

Each month, we invite committed supporters like you to share your perspectives on key questions we're navigating as an organization. Your responses are reviewed across teams—from leadership to communications to donor engagement—and help ensure our work stays grounded in what matters most to supporters like you.

WHAT YOU SHARED LAST MONTH

Last month, you helped us understand how you think about public lands and what they mean in your life.

When asked about how you see public lands, half of participants said they are shared national treasures that belong to all of us. Another 30% described them as fragile ecosystems that need strong protection, while 15% said they are essential to addressing climate and biodiversity crises.

When asked to choose only one, 47% of participants said community movements and organizations play the most important role in protecting public lands from threats like drilling, followed closely by government leaders and agencies at 42%.

We also learned that many of you feel a strong personal connection to public lands, even if they're not close to home. In fact, 58% said they don't live near public lands but still feel a deep connection to them.

And in the open-ended responses, you shared heartfelt Valentine's messages to the wild places you love.

One panelist wrote: "You have shared your rivers, bluffs, wildlife and wildflowers with me. You speak to my soul and give me joy. You will forever be what love looks like to me."

Another said, "Ice skating quietly at midnight on a Sierra lake, frozen 8" thick. Since no snow had fallen yet, the stars reflected at my feet. In cold clean air, encircled by peaks and pines I marveled at The Universe, and that I get to be part of it."

As always, we read every Insight Panel response, and your feedback is already shaping how we talk about public lands and the people who care about them.

If you haven't yet, please take this month's quick survey.

Thank you for being part of the Insight Panel and for giving your time and voice to this work. We're listening!

With appreciation,
