National Monuments are NOT for Sale. Double your gift.

Momoko, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument's stunning slot canyons and dramatic vistas make it instantly recognizable—but its importance goes far beyond the pretty Utah scenery. Its rock formations tell the stories of centuries gone by, with incredible paleontological discoveries providing a window into our history.

Right now it's facing an unprecedented attack.

Utah's Senator Lee and Representative Maloy, both of whom pushed for a large-scale sell-off of public lands during last year's budget reconciliation process, are now seeking to overturn the management plan that protects Grand Staircase-Escalante's sacred cultural sites, rare wildlife habitats and bucket-list hiking and camping destinations. If successful, they'll unravel years of community-driven conservation and remove barriers to drilling and mining across nearly 1.9 million acres.

We need every single Wilderness Society supporter to stand with us at this urgent moment. Our Spring Membership Drive kicks off today—and any gift you make before March 31 will be 2X MATCHED to power our defense of this remarkable place and other vulnerable landscapes across the country.

PROTECT NATIONAL MONUMENTS

Congress is using an arcane law known as the Congressional Review Act to throw the monument's management into chaos. It has never been used this way before. We can't allow it to happen. Not to Grand Staircase-Escalante or to any other national monument.

Opening this special place to reckless development would threaten culturally and scientifically significant sites, poison community drinking water, destroy intact habitat for rare plants and animals and limit our freedom to enjoy the beauty and wonder of this national treasure.

This moment is so serious that starting now, a generous donor is DOUBLING every gift made to our Spring Membership Drive, up to $375,000. Will you rush an urgent gift to power our work to defend Grand Staircase-Escalante and all of our shared public lands from being sold off to corporate polluters?

This isn't an idle threat. During the first Trump administration, the boundaries of Grand Staircase-Escalante were carved nearly in half—but together, we fought back and helped restore them.

Now this national monument is on the chopping block again and we're rallying all of our supporters to fight for this remarkable place before it's too late.

Please, Momoko. Join the fight for Grand Staircase-Escalante and all public lands at risk of being turned over to private industry by making a gift during our Spring Membership Drive. When you give before the March 31 deadline, every dollar will be matched—these beloved lands don't have time to wait.

Thank you for standing with us,

The Wilderness Society's Membership Team
